Joseph Lallo is a Lecturer of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music at the University of Melbourne, and performs internationally as a soloist, chamber musician and conductor.

Joseph is the Artistic Director for Melbourne Saxophone and the Melbourne International Saxophone Festival.
'My goal is to help you find your most musical, flexible, and natural way of playing music. We can work on creating a technique that works best for your body, delve into the music and your ideas, and find your unique way of bringing classical and new music to life. I am passionate about teaching positive and productive ways to practice. We can talk about; mental-practice strategies, understanding cultural, historical and philosophical contexts of the pieces, developing your aural and theoretical language, and learning how to actively engage with music in the moment of practice and performance.'
Joseph has performed with the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and The Australian Ballet, and as a soloist with China’s Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, and Melbourne's Pro Musica Orchestra performing Chu Wanghua's Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra. Joseph is a member of the esteemed chamber music ensembles Collide with cellist Yelian He and pianist Yasmin Rowe, and Duo Obax with oboist Briana Leaman.
Joseph has performed and given masterclasses all over the world, with highlights being in Paris at the Cité Internationale des Arts and the Théâtre du Châtelet, Singapore’s Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Saxophone Symposium and the Lasalle Contemporary School of the Arts, Tennessee’s Vanderbilt University, The University of South Carolina, the Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy in Thailand, Beijing’s National Library Concert Hall, The New Zealand Saxophone Academy, The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music and The Monash Sir Zelman School of Music, The Australian Saxophone Retreat, and The Strasbourg Conservatorium of Music.
Joseph is a graduate of The University of Melbourne (Barry Cockroft & Ian Godfrey) where he was awarded the 2009 Catherine Grace McWilliam Bequest for achieving the highest result in his Bachelor of Music. He was recipient of the 2009 Donovan-Johnston Memorial Travel Scholarship, and the 2008 Rogowski Saxophone Scholarship, allowing him to study at the Bordeaux Conservatoire de Musique (Marie-Bernadette Charrier). He went on to complete both a Masters of Saxophone Performance and a Masters of Orchestral and Opera Conducting at the Strasbourg Haute École des Arts du Rhin (Philippe Geiss, Theodor Guschlbauer).
Joseph has been the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including a Research Training Program Scholarship for the completion of his PhD, the 2013 Strasbourg HEAR New Talent Scholarship, and the 2012 Australian Arts Council Skills and Development Grant.
Joseph is a Selmer Saxophones Artist and a D'Addario Woodwind Artist, and performs on Series III Alto & Soprano Saxophones, Selmer Concept mouthpieces, and D'Addario Reserve Reeds.

Joseph Lallo is a Lecturer of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music at the University of Melbourne, and performs internationally as a soloist, chamber musician and conductor.
In 2009, Joseph was awarded The Catherine Grace McWilliam Bequest after achieving the highest result in his Bachelor of Music Degree at the University of Melbourne. As winner of the 2009 Donovan Johnston Travel Scholarship, he travelled to Bordeaux and Strasbourg where he completed his Masters of Orchestral and Opera Conducting with Theodor Guschlbauer (Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Lyon Opera), Claude Schnitzler, Concert Band Conducting with Miguel Etchegoncelay, as well as choir conducting with Catherine Bolzinger.
Joseph worked at the Strasbourg Conservatoire de Musique as an assistant conductor to the symphonic orchestra and chief conductor of the Strasbourg Saxophone Ensemble. He was the chief conductor of the Orchestre d’Harmonie de Brunstatt, and the Annecy Music Summer Camp, and worked as an assistant conductor to Theodor Guschlbauer and Julia Jones.
In 2015, Joseph conducted the sold out world premier of Les Orgues des Sax at the Strasbourg Cathedral, composed by the renowned French musician Jean-Francois Zygel. His collaborations with Zygel have also seen him conduct on the national television series La Boîte à Musique, and in Paris at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
Passionate about youth music, Joseph has conducted large-scale projects in both Europe and Australia, including both the European and Australian 100SAX!, uniting over 100 musicians from around the world to perform music written especially for the ensemble.
Since returning to Australia, Joseph has conducted the World Premiere of the Australian Opera Buckley by Antony Ransome, and recent engagements include the Preston Symphony Orchestra, Casey Philharmonic Orchestra, Percy Grainger Youth Orchestra, Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra and the Bayside Chamber Orchestra.
