As a freelance clarinettist based in London, John Slack has worked with several of the UK’s leading orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. However, John’s real love is chamber music and as a founding member of the Berkeley Ensemble has performed at festivals and music clubs throughout the UK and abroad and broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. John features on several of the group’s recordings released on the Delphian and Resonus Classics labels, including Beethoven’s Septet and Clarinet Trio which was released in January 2020 to critical acclaim.
John is a dedicated teacher. Working with students at all levels and abilities in the wider London area and internationally online, he has coached at Dartington International Summer School and given masterclasses at schools and universities across the UK, in Macau and Hong Kong.
