Hello! My name is Elise Henry. I joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic as Second Flutist in September 2012. I am an active chamber musician, teacher, and freelance artist throughout Southern California.
Born in Houston, Texas, I received my Bachelor of Music degree with honors at the University of Michigan while studying under Amy Porter. While in Michigan, I also served as the Detroit Civic Orchestra’s flute mentor. I later attended the Manhattan School of Music, earning a Master of Music degree under the tutelage of Robert Langevin. My other teachers include Pamela Hackney and Nadine Asin.
I have participated in several music festivals, including Mainly Mozart, Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and Atlantic Music Festival.
In addition to my classical music performances I enjoy playing other genres, such as Brazilian popular, Irish folk, and classical Hindustani.
When I'm not playing music you'll find me playing with my 6 month old son, relaxing with friends, cooking, and gardening.
