Hi! I'm Camille Wells, and I'm an American oboist based in Auckland, New Zealand. Since 2009, I've been Associate Principal Oboe of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and I've also maintained a busy musical life in the United States, performing as a guest principal oboe with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and the New Jersey Symphony, as well as the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. I'm excited to perform with the Minnesota Orchestra in 2020.
Teaching oboe is one of my greatest passions. I have over a decade of experience sharing my knowledge of music, oboe technique, and reed-making with students of every level, from beginner through university and beyond. I was fortunate to have some of the world's best teachers: Boston Symphony principal oboist John Ferrillo, former Philadelphia Orchestra principal oboist Richard Woodhams, and Linda Strommen, formerly of the Metropolitan Opera, and I am grateful to share that musical lineage with my students.
If you would like to improve your oboe technique, deepen your musical knowledge and enhance your expression, develop more effective practice methods, become more confident in auditions, or hone your reed making skills, I would love to guide you.
