As a musician...
Cellist with Jeff Lynne's ELO touring band since 2016, Jess Cox has performed to audiences of more than 200,000 people around the world in prestigious venues that include Madison Square Gardens, Wembley Stadium and the Hollywood Bowl. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music Jess enjoys an incredibly diverse musical career from recording for various films including 'Wonder Woman 1984', 'Dunkirk' and 'Mission Impossible: Fall Out' as well as on Sam Smith's title track 'The Writing's On The Wall' for the James Bond film 'Spectre' to recording classical orchestral repertoire with Northern Sinfonia to appearing on BBC's Jools Holland and BBC's Radio 1 Live Lounge. She has performed live with artists that include: Bjork, Brian Wilson, Ellie Goulding, Kanye West, Years and Years and The Specials and has recorded on albums for Paul Weller, Pete Tong's 'Ibiza Classics' and Ocean Colour Scene Live at Bridgewater Hall with Q Strings.
As a soloist and duo partner with Jennifer Vizinet (accompanist for GSMD) Jess has given recitals worldwide from South Korea to Nova Scotia for Cunard. With a love of theatre she has performed frequently in London's West End as well as for shows for The National, Sadlers Wells and The Royal Shakespeare Company.
As an educator....
Teaching since 18 years old, Jess has taught cello, piano and music theory to children as young as 4 years old through to adults in their 70s and from beginners to degree level. She has led workshops for schools (primary and secondary) with her string quartet, Q Strings, given workshops for mums and babies groups and for the London String Quartet Foundation. A keen lover of chamber music Jess has coached chamber music at Dartington International Summer School as well as for Purbeck Strings, UK. She has been guest lecturer at Oxford Brookes University for the past 2 years advising composition students on how to write music for the cello. Jess is a dedicated teacher and tailors her teaching practice to suit the individual student, their ability, interests and knowledge with a wide range of teaching techniques.
As a composer....
Jess is co founder of Brik Hit House, a one stop shop for music production for whom she composes for TV. Her album 'Shapes and Spaces' an experimental soundscape, predominantly using electric/acoustic cello with extended techniques and recorded in her home studio and produced at Rimshot Studios (also available in 5.1 surround, hi-res stereo and dolby atmos) was released 1st March 2021.
As an arranger she's written for bands that include Ocean Colour Scene, The Specials, Spiritualized and more recently for UK No.1 album artist S G Lewis.
