I think of teaching more as coaching, looking at the whole picture and the way the student uses their body and their mind as well as their oboe and their musical sensitivity. I really enjoy a student who is curious and dedicated to their own development as a musician. In my experience every student is unique and I enjoy the problem solving that comes with helping them find ways to overcome the obstacles that pertain specifically to them.
